The Campkin's Story

When you talk about having a business in your blood, the family name "Campkin" means "family that camps". Campkin's RV Centre was founded in 1973 in Pickering by Lawrence "Laurie" Campkin and his son Brad, reflecting a family name rooted in camping. Brad became a 50% partner in 1988, the same year the business moved to Myrtle Station (North Whitby). After Laurie's passing in 1991, Brad became sole owner and went on to play an active role in RV industry associations and committees.

Since moving to Myrtle Station in 1988, Campkin's has operated a fully stocked parts and accessories store, expanded further with a new building in 2004. The dealership is over 6,000 square feet of service space, accepts major RV club discounts, operates an ecommerce parts store in partnership with RV Care, and provides comprehensive customer orientations to ensure confident RV ownership.

Roland Goreski joined Campkin's in 1999, progressing through parts, service, and sales before becoming General Manager in 2006. Together, Brad and Roland successfully expanded the business through the economic downturn of 2008–2009. In fact in 2011, Campkin's expanded its property to six acres, allowing for a larger sales lot and increased service storage.

Brad retired in 2014, and Roland became the owner. As the owner Roland was committed to keeping the company's long-standing commitment to community, charity, and industry involvement to ensure the Campkin's legacy continued. In 2011 a Campkin's customer named Jamie McMillan joined the sales team. Jamie advanced to Sales Manager in 2020 and General Manager in 2022, continuing Campkin's tradition of community and industry support. As of January 1, 2026, Jamie McMillan is now the owner of Campkin's RV Centre.

Over more than 50 years, Campkin's has earned numerous awards, including Canadian RV Dealer of the Year, Ontario RV Dealer of the Year, RV Care Canadian Dealer of the Year, Whitby Businessperson of the Year, multiple Chamber of Commerce and Reader's Choice awards, and many top brand performance awards. The company's greatest reward remains helping customers make RV memories since 1973.

Campkin's owners, managers, and staff are all passionate campers themselves, many of whom were once customers. With multiple legacy employees and a strong commitment to treating customers by the Golden Rule, Campkin's longevity is built on trust, referrals, and the way customers feel when they do business there. Campkin's will always be dealership that is run by RVer's and designed to serve RV community the way we would want to be treated.
